최상급
1. 주어 동사 the 형용사 -est (1,2 음절 형용사) 명사 한정범위
Ben is the tallest boy in my class. (벤은 우리 반에서 가장 큰 남자애다)
2. 주어 동사 the most + 형용사 (2음절 이상 형용사) 명사 한정범위
That is the most beautiful park in my town. (저게 우리 동네에서 가장 아름다운 공원이다.)
최상급에는 형용사 앞에 ‘the’를 사용한다.
비교급과 마찬가지로 형용사의 음절 길이에 따라 <형용사 + est> 혹은 <most + 형용사> 형태로 최상급을 만든다.
‘happy’와 ‘busy’처럼 ‘y’로 끝나는 형용사는 ‘y’를 ‘i’로 변경후 비교급 / 최상급을 만든다.

미국식 영어에서는 ‘farther’는 공간적 거리, ‘further’은 심리적 거리, 양 정도에 대해서 주로 사용한다. 단, ‘추가’라는 의미로 사용할 경우에는 반그시 ‘further’를 사용한다.

세 개 이상의 명사를 나열할 경우 최상급을 사용해서 질문하며, ‘or’은 마지막 명사 앞에만 넣는다. - 응용 문장 :

- 느낀점 : 이번 24주차에선 최상급에 대해 공부했다. 최상급에 대한 총정리를 한 것처럼 묶어서 공부하니 정리가 된 느낌이라 자신감이 생겼다. 다 안다고 생각했던 비교급과 최상급에서 새로운 내용도 공부했다. 특히, 118일차 강의에서 ‘far’의 비교급, 최상급 ‘farther’,’farthest’ 은 미국식영어에서 공간적 거리, ‘further’, ‘furthest’는 심리적 거리, 양 정도에 사용하고. ‘추가’라는 의미로 사용할 때는 반드시 ‘furthest’로 쓴다는 것을 새롭게 배웠다. 이와 다르게, 영국식 영어에서는 ‘further’, ‘furthest’를 사용한다고 한다.
미니 팝스 #42에선 가수 Whitney Houston의 ‘Greatest Love of All’ 이었다. 꿈을 향해 갈 때 힘들고 외로울 땐 자신을 믿고 스스로를 사랑하라는 메세지의 노래다. 그러나 그녀의 마지막 삶은 그렇지 못했던 것이 안타깝고 마음이 아팠다.
