1) 음식에 대해 말하기

<Review skills>

Today is Christmas Eve. My Italian family and relatives go to my grandparents’ house every holiday season. My grandparents live in a big house in the countryside. They have a large kitchen in the house. There are many fruits and vegetables on the table. There are also many bottles of wine and beer.

오늘은 크리스마스 이브입니다. 나의 이탈리아 가족과 친척들은 연말연시 휴가 기간이 되면 할머니, 할아버지 댁에 갑니다. 두 분은 시골의 커다란 주택에서 삽니다. 집에는 아주 큰 부엌도 있습니다. 식탁 위에는 과일과 야채가 많이 있습니다. 와인과 맥주도 많습니다.

My mother and my aunts cook dinner. There cook some pasta and pizza. They bake a big chocolate cake, too. There’s a lot of cheese on the pizza and a lot of chocolate in the cake. They are delicious!

어머니와 숙모들은 저녁 요리를 합니다. 파스타와 피자를 만들어요. 커다란 초콜릿케잌도 만듭니다. 피자에는 치즈를 많이 올리고 케이크에는 초콜릿을 많이 넣습니다. 아주 맛있어요.

My father and my uncles cook barbecue in the backyard. My grandparents buy too much meat every holiday. There is enough meat in the refrigerator for the whole family. My uncles cook meat with some salt and pepper. It’s perfect.

아버지와 삼촌들은 뒷마당에서 바비큐를 합니다. 조부모님들은 휴가때 마다 고기를 너무 많이 삽니다. 모든 식구가 다 먹기에 충분한 양의 고기가 냉장고에 있습니다 삼촌들은 소금과 후추를 넣고 고기 요리를 합니다. 아주 완벽합니다.

My cousins make the potato salad, but they don’t put enough potatoes. There aren’t any eggs, onions or cucumbers in their salad. It’s not very popular.

사촌들은 감자 샐러드를 만드는데 감자를 충분히 넣지 않아요. 그 샐러드에는 계란, 양파, 오이도 하나 없습니다. 그래서 인기가 별로 없습니다.

It’s time to eat! There’s a lot of food on the dinner table. We need fifteen plates for the dinner. There are twenty plates in the kitchen cabinet. There are enough plates. Let’s eat and drink, but not too much!

이제 먹을 시간! 저녁 식탁에 음식이 아주 많습니다. 저녁 식사를 하려면 접시가 15개 필요합니다. 부엌 찬장에 20개의 접시가 있습니다. 접시는 충분해요. 자, 우리 모두 먹고 마십시다. 하지만 너무 많이는 말고요. 즐거운 연말연시 보내세요.

2) 쇼핑에 필요한 동사

나는 검은색코트가 있지만 새 코트를 하나 사고 싶어.

비벌리 스토어에 좋은 코트들을 팔아. 가서 하나 사자.

3) 사이즈가 맞는지 물어보기

4) 내 의견 드러내기

5) 긍정적/부정적 형용사로 표현하기

Betty is a smart young student. 베티는 똑똑하고 젊은 학생이야.

That is a scary old movie. 그건 무섭고 오래된 영화야.

6. 요약

* 쇼핑 관련 동사

* 대명사 ‘one’

‘one’(~것) : I don’t like the black coat, but I like the red one.

‘ones’(~것들): I don’t like black coats, but I like the red ones.

⇒특정 명사를 언급한 후 다시 말할 때, 반복을 피하기 위해 해당 명사를 ‘one’으로 대신한다.

⇒예문에서 보듯이 ‘one’은 대명사로 쓰여 그것이 가리키는 대상(coat)이 앞에 명시돼야 한다.

* 옷과 액세서리

* 내 의견 표현할 때 형용사 어순 : 의견 + 사실 + 명사

– This is a beautiful(주관적 의견) purple(객관적 사실) sweater.

_ That is a good old book.

* 의견을 나타내는 형용사

(Positive)

– delicious 맛있는 / excellent 뛰어난 / fantastic 환상적인

(Negative)

– horrible불쾌한,끔찍한 / boring지루한 / terrible지독한, 심한/

difficult어려운/ scary겁나는/ lazy게으른/ weak약한/ rude 무례한/ silly유치한

7. 퀴즈렛 테스트 결과

낱말카드, 테스트, 학습하기를 모두 학습하였다.

75강에서 나오는 퀴즈렛 역시 모두 학습, 어휘 32개 모두 학습함.

8. 응용문장

* I own many skirts, but I want a new one.

I have enough dresses, but I don’t have a red one.

* My black dress is too big for the party.

My husband pants is too old for the office look.

I have two pretty young daughters.

My husband is a clever old man.

You are a great young man.

We have good white car.

I don’t like horrible movies.

I’m bored.  Let’s go shopping.

 9. 느낀점

* 미션 complete를 반복하여 들으며 따라해 본다. 아직 유창하진 않지만 영어 공부하는 엄마의 모습을 이제 성인이 된 두 딸들이 참 좋아한다. 영어 발음을 교정해 주기도 하고, 괜히 들어와서 보고 가기도 하고, 엄마가 꾸준히 영어공부를 하는 모습을 오늘은 ‘엄마 멋있다.’라는 말도 해 준다. 이 또한 기쁨!

* 미션8에서는 옷과 관련한 문장을 배우니 재미있는데 막상 응용문장을 만들어 보려고 하면 아직 어렵다. 그런데 좀 더 자신감을 가져도 될 듯.

* 내 의견을 표현할 때 두 개의 형용사를 바로 이어서 말하면 우리 말에서는 좀 어색한 표현이 되기도 한다. “너는 예쁜 큰 눈을 가졌어.” 이 말은 “너는 예쁘고 큰 눈을 가졌어.” 라고 말 할 때 어색하지 않은데, ‘and’ 없이도 말이 된다는 걸 배웠다.

* 긍정적, 부정적의 의미를 가진 단어 positive, negative 의 미국식 발음이 좀 어려운 것 같다.
