Grammar Points – 현재완료진행 [has/have been + ~ing]

* ‘계속해서, 내내’등의 의미로 쓰이는 현재완료진행형(현재완료+진행형)은 현재완료와 마찬가지로 과거부터 현재까지의 기간을 나타내는 부사(since, for, recently, all afternoon, this week 등)와 함께 사용할 수 있으며, 구체적인 과거시점 표현(yesterday, in 2016, on Tuesday, two days ago 등)과는 사용할 수 없습니다.

* 여기서 ‘It’은 ‘가짜 주어(가주어)’이므로 따로 ‘그것’이라고 해석하지 않습니다. 여기서 진짜 주어(진주어)는 [to부정사]이후의 문장입니다. 가주어를 쓰는 이유는 영어는 간단한 주어를 선호하기 때문입니다.
* [for+목적격]을 to부정사 앞에 넣어서 ‘의미상의 주어’를 언급할 수 있습니다. 단, 사람의 성품을 나타내는 형용사(nice, kind, sweet 등)는 [of+목적격]을 사용합니다. 예) It’s difficult for me to speak English. / It’s nice of you to come.

* 간신히/가까스로/노력의 결과로 어떤 일을 해냈을 경우, ‘could’는 사용하지 않으며 ‘was/were able to’를 사용합니다. 유사한 표현으로 ‘managed to’와 ‘succeed in ~ing’를 사용할 수 있습니다.

* love, know등과 같이 감정/지각/정신상태 등을 표현하는 ‘상태동사’는 일반적으로 ‘현재완료 진행형’을 사용하지 않고 완료형으로 지속성을 나타냅니다. 예) I’ve already loved him. (O) / I’ve always been loving him. (X)

현재완료진행(현재완료+진행형)으로 활동의 지속성이나 지속된 활동의 결과를 나타낼 수 있다.
I have been carrying boxes all day. → 활동의 지속성 (아직 끝나지 않은 것)
Have you been practicing recently? → 지속된 활동의 결과
How long + 현재완료진행으로 행동의 기간에 대해 묻고 답하는 표현을 학습
How long have you been investigating?
I’ve been investigating since last May.
부정접두사: im- / un- / ir- / dis- / -in / il-
be able to = can
be not able to = be unable to = can’t
상태동사는 일반적으로 현재완료 진행형을 사용하지 않고, 완료형으로 지속성을 나타낸다.
I’ve always loved him. (o)
I’ve always been loving him. (x)

9. 느낀점
이번주 학습에서는 현재완료진행형에 대해서 자세히 학습했다. 최근 영어 공부를 하면서 알고 있는 내용이라고 생각했는데, 막상 문장을 보고 문제를 풀어보니 아직도 정확하게 전부 알고 있는 내용이 아닌 것 같았다.. 영어는 정말 해도해도 재미가 없는 것 같다. 나름 꾸준히 영어 공부를 해오고 있는데도 계속 모르는 것들이 나온다. 학습지 외에도 영어 공부를 하면서 요즘 벽을 느끼는 이유가 단어 때문인 것 같다. 문장 구조를 알아도, 문법을 알아도 단어를 모르면 너무 어려워진다.. 실제로 영어 책이나 강의 등을 찾아보면 단어를 많이 외워라, 단어만 많이 알면 된다 라는 말을 많이 보곤 했다. 근데 그게 말이 쉽지 사실 영어에서 제일 하기 싫고 재미없는게 단어 외우는 것 같다. 이건 영어 뿐만 아니라 모든 언어를 배울 때 적용되는 내용 같다.. 아무튼 그래서 요즘 문법이나 독해 외에도 단어를 최대한 많이 외우려고 노력하고 있다.
