*do / did 로 강조하기
1. do + 동사원형

‘do / did + 동사원형’을 사용하면 해당 동사를 강조해서 ‘정말 / 진심으로 ~하다 / 했다’라는 의미를 전달할 수 있다.
*육아 관련 표현
feed / fed / fed 먹이다
She fed her baby every morning.
bite / bit / bit 깨물다
He bit his sister’s finger.
sink / sank / sank 가라앉다
His rubber duck sank in the bathtub.
tuck / tucked / tucked in (into bed) 잠자리를 봐주다

*used to / be used to
1. used to + 동사원형
(평서문) He used to live in Germany.
(부정문) They didn’t used to go to the gym.
(의문문) Did he used to come here?
‘used to + 동작동사 / 상태동사’는 ‘~하곤 했다’는 과거의 규칙적인 습관을 나타내는 조동사로서 과거형으로 쓴다.
‘would + 동작동사’로도 과거의 반복적인 습성을 표현할 수 있다.
예) She would stay up late on Saturdays.
2. be used to + 명사 / 동명사 (-ing)
(평서문) He is used to living in Germany.
(부정문) They are not used to going to the gym.
(의문문) Is he used to coming here?
‘be used to’의 과거형은 be 부분만 과거형으로 바뀐다.
조동사와 함께 사용하거나 현재 진행형을 사용하며 ‘익숙해지다’ 란 의미를 전달할 때는 ‘get used to’로 표현한다.
예)
(진행형) I’m getting used to my new job.
(미래형)You will get used to waking up early. - 응용 문장 :

The mountain is higher than any other mountain in Korea.

- 느낀점 :
39주차 학습을 했다. 동네 최고 자랑거리에 대해 이야기하기에선 최상급을 강조해서 표현하고 다양한 최상급의 활용법들을 공부했고, ‘do / did’로 강조해서 어린 시절 이야기하기를 했다. 학창시절 이야기하기, 기억에 남는 일에 대해 이야기하기에선 ‘used to / be used to’ 차이와 사용법에 대해 공부했다. 많이 쓸 수 있는 ‘used to / be used to’ 를 헷갈려서 잘 사용하지 못했는데, 이젠 자신있게 사용할 수 있게 되어 뿌듯했다. 그리고 미국과 영국의 다른 부분 학습에서 ‘college’의 경우 미국에선 대학으로 통하지만, 영국에선 고등학교를 뜻하기도 한다는 부분이 놀랍고 흥미로웠다.
