9. 느낀점

day198 폴샘 강의 영상에서 Grammar Points를 배울 때 “I stopped ~ing”가 현재 하고 있던 것을 멈춘다는 의미로 예컨대, I stopped eating. 먹고 있던 것을 멈춘다는 의미라고 이해했다. 그런데 제니샘과 택이학생의 영상에서는 제니샘이 말하는 해당 문장에 대한 해석은 폭이 좀 더 넓다는 생각이 들었다. “I stopped eating hambuger.”가 나의 이해라는 전제 하에, 폴샘 설명대로라면, 햄버거를 먹다가 멈췄다는 것으로 이해되는데, 제니샘의 설명에서는 (햄버거거 몸에 좋지 않은 음식이라) 이젠 햄버거 먹는 것을 멈췄다. 는 의미로 얘길 하셨기 때문이다. 이렇게 되면 단순히 햄버거 먹는 행위를 도중에 중단하는 것이 아니게 된다. 이건 맥락의 문제인가? 잘 이해가 안 되네.

벌써 day200을 마쳤다. 동시에 8단계도 완료. 이번 미션의 주제처럼 ‘추억에 대해 이야기’를 잘 하게 되기를 바란다. 하지만 아직 멀었다. 다 마치고 반.드.시. 복습 필수다. 그래도 빠짐없이 지금까지 해 온 나 스스로도 놀랍고 나에게 칭찬한다. 큰 아이가 공부하고 있는 내 방에 들어와 엄마인 내 머리를 쓰다듬고 가더니 요즘은 자꾸 영어로 말을 걸면서 엄마도 영어로 대답하고, 영어로 말을 좀 해보라고 성화다. 아이고, 내가 나이로 핑계댈 생각은 없지만 그게 그렇게 쉬운 일이 아니다잉. 느그들은 초등학교 시절부터 영어를 쭉 해왔지만 말이야. 결국 핑계네.
