It’s Saturday afternoon. My family loves the weekend. My grandparents usually go climbing together. It’s their hobby. But sometimes they just stay home and watch TV all day. 토요일 오후입니다. 우리 가족은 주말을 아주 좋아해요. 할머니할아버지는 보통 함께 등산을 가십니다. 그건 두 분의 취미죠. 그런데 가끔은 집에 계시면서 온종일 TV를 보기도 하십니다.

My father never goes climbing with them. He hates it because it is dangerous. He usually reads books and listens to music on weekends. He sometimes goes to see a play with my mother. 아버지는 절대로 그들과 함께 등산을 가지 않아요. 위험하다고 질색하십니다. 아버지는 주말마다 보통 독서를 하시거나 음악을 듣습니다. 가끔은 엄마와 함께 연극을 보러 가기도 해요.

* like 와 favorite (아래 표 참고)

‘kind/type’은 종류를 물어볼 때 둘 다 사용가능하나, 예외적으로 의미가 미묘하게 차이 나는 경우가 있다.

좋아하는 대상이 사람일 때는 ‘Who’로 물어본다. Who is your favorite teacher?

* 스포츠와 악기에서 ‘play’를 쓰는 경우, 악기 앞에는 ‘the’를 쓰지만, 스포츠에는 쓰지 않는다.

* 조동사 ‘can’ : ~할 수 있다, ~할 줄 안다 = 능력 유무

① 긍정문: [주어 +can + 동사원형]

② 부정문: [주어 + cannot + 동사원형]

③ 의문문: [Can + 주어 + 동사언형 ]

9. 느낀점

학습문답에서 폴쌤, 늘 친절하고 알기 쉽게 대답해 주셔서 감사합니다. 악기/음악에 관해 배우는데 concerts처럼 콘서트에 ‘s’를 붙이는 것은 큰 범위의 콘서트이기 때문이라고 배웠다. 범위가 크다, 작다는 것은 주관적일 수 있는데, 우리나라로 비유하자면 올림픽경기장 같은 곳에서 하는 콘서트를 큰 범위라고 말하겠지.

이번 주에 3단계가 끝나고, 4단계 시작하였다. 단계가 바뀌면서 강사님들도 바뀌고 공부 시간이 훨씬 늘어서 바쁠 때는 부담된다. 아직은 조금 쉬운 내용이라 버틸 수 있지만 시간도 길고 내용도 어려워지면 잘 해낼 수 있을지 모르겠다. 오늘 만난 분에게 영어공부 한다고 자랑질(?)을 했으니 잘 해야만 한다. ^^
